METALLICA ROCKS - Maybe someday I, too, will be on the verge of a "brakedown" and see the true genius of St. Anger. Until then, I will consider St. Anger to be a giant pile of crap and you to be a barely literate person with poor taste in music.

Good day, sir! I said good day!

It is reprehensible garbage, no different than any Metallica album released over the last 19 years. Metallica has been irrelevant to true metal fans since "...And Justice For All," their last good album. If you believe otherwise, you are a fucking poser, sorry.

No, SamuraiMaster, St. Anger really does suck. Thanks for your overly-verbose attempt at defending a total piece of garbage. If the individual doing the review had been familiar with Metallica's earlier work, as you are (and I am), it would have led them to question how a band so capable of great music could have created the massive pile of cow shit that is St. Anger.

Congratulations on Death Magnetic being a huge seller. I'm sure Hannah Montana sells a boatload of records too.

You know, I am about to tell you something you may hate me the rest of my life for, but I say this with extreme pride.

St. Anger is not as bad an album as everyone says it is! Honestly! Yeah you think I'm a crazy guy now who listens to shit music. No. In fact, Metallica is my number one band, and St. Anger is no where near my favorite album by them. However, this album is very much respected by me. Let me explain.

First off, I noticed how you say you never heard a Metallica album before listening to this. Well no wonder you hate Metallica so much. You should have listened to their early albums before marking Metallica as a band that sucks, genius. Good example: "Master of Puppets," one of the best albums in the HISTORY OF ROCK! Nothing beats it. I can go on about the early albums, but I'm here to defend an album that isn't that bad if you really look into it.

The theme St. Anger portrays, is Metallica's darkest stuff I've heard. I mean yeah, some songs on this album are a complete waste of time (Purify), but some songs you mentioned, actually give of meaning you don't see, or don't want to see. "Some Kind of Monster" is probably one of the best songs written by Metallica. Honestly. The chorus doesn't ask if you are a person you idiot. Hetfield is asking a rehitorical question implying us, the people, as a monster. A death-style is what I like to know as the way to go out or your legacy. One of the better lyrics of the album comes out of "Sweet Amber" (Wash Your back so you don't stab mine.) If I gotta explain this for you, then you honestly don't know the true horror life can sometimes be.

One thing that I love about St. Anger is the fact that I can connect with it a lot better than most people. I know what the "Invisible Kid" is and I have experienced the full blow of "The Unnamed Feeling" and know how it feels. Hetfield describes it as acurate as it gets. You cannot describe it.

St. Anger is also not as good as it could have been mostly because of a shit time the band was going through. Jason Newsted had left the band, Hetfield was overcoming alcoholism, and the band was going into therapy. Some of these feelings are expressed in the album and it's dark.

I agree with most people about one thing about this album. The productions is some of the worst producing I have ever heard. I really wish Bob Rock never worked with Metallica. But I don't always like how the production of an album immediatly says that the album is good or bad. Hetfield's singing is off key in areas. So fucking what? All you System of a Down fans out there, your vocalist is NEVER ON KEY MOST OF THE FUCKING TIME! STOP WHINING! Kirk rarely does a solo. Once again, so fucking what? I believe his riffs are just as good in this album. I don't care about the drop c tuning. All you Death Metal fans don't give a rat's ass about guitar tuning, and your guitar riff suck ass! Lars on his set...yeah his snare can be really annoying at times, but Bob Rock told him to do it, because Bob Rock sucks as a producer of Metal. I'm glad they fired him. If you haven't heard ...And Justice for All or Death Magnetic (their newest album), you honestly don't know how good Lars really is. Death Magnetic stayed the number one album around the fuckin world for three straight weeks!

In conclusion. You seriously need to stop badmouthing St. Anger simply because of the minor factors. Honestly. Yes it's not Metallica's best work, but it's damn dark. Now I understand if you hate me, but once again, before you bad-mouth a band as good as Metallica, listen to their good albums first...genius...

I DO agree, playing with fire is worse but this album is just sort of the evidence metallica sucks, fake, simple and acting like children. I am a metal fan, but metallica was always a statue for the lame trash-metal branch.

BTW: I rank all the albums I listen every year and out of the 130-140 of 2008, Gavin rossdale came out worst. I know it aint a classic as the three displayed on the website, BUT if you're really interested in bad music, this can make your day.

What about Limp bizkit's - results may vary!! They are having a comeback because they hated modern hard music more than each other (this is funny, when you made one of the worst albums ever).
