The Killers have left Sam’s Town (and all it’s embarrassing but undeniably earnest bombast) in the dust in favor of a locale much closer to their own hometown – glitzy Las Vegas – where (besides a few enjoyable moments) the synths are cheesier than ever, the horns sound lame and dated, and the sense of lazy insincerity is palpable.


Do We Suck, or Are We Lame?: The Killers may have officially claimed the prize for “Worst Lyric of the Year” with Day & Age’s first single (and otherwise enjoyable album highlight) “Human”. The song’s chorus – taken from a wildly butchered Hunter S. Thompson quote – sees singer Brandon Flowers crooning “Are we human/Or are we dancer?” No, there’s not supposed to be an ‘s’ at the end of that. You know you guys can be both, right?
