Dr. Dog is a band oft derided by critics and indie snobs for wearing their famous influences on their sleeves – The Beatles, The Beach Boys – but it would take the iciest of hearts or the most doggedly analytical of minds to prevent oneself from enjoying the songs on this album: the laid back, building opener (“The Breeze”), the flurrying piano of “The Old Days”, or the climactic and near-perfect finale, “My Friend”.
