Guns N’ Roses – Chinese Democracy

November 18th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Album reviews

Best described as an eclectic mix of industrial pop rock, Chinese Democracy features plenty of standard GNR trademark dramatic song styling, but without the presence of a ultra-powerful ballad like “November Rain” or a ultra catchy riff like “Welcome to the Jungle” it comes off more like an experimental Queen or Styx effort than a traditional GNR album but in the end is well worth the 10+ year wait. Crystal Antlers – EP

November 12th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Album reviews

With thundering guitar and shouted vocals, one might think Crystal Antlers a metal band at first, but their debut EP presents a more diverse and interesting package: impossible to pin down to one specific genre but always soaring and with a touch of psychedelia, particularly on numbers like the epic highlight, “A Thousand Eyes”.
