Department of Eagles – In Ear Park

October 7, 2008
4AD
Rating: 4.4 / 5

The Music Rag One Sentence Review: The new album from Department of Eagles densely layers an endless catalog of natural sounds and nostalgic lyrics into some of the most lush and beautiful sounding pop songs I’ve ever heard – In Ear Park is easily the prettiest-sounding thing you’ll listen to all year.

Electric Six – Flashy

October 21, 2008
Metropolis Records
Rating: 3.7 / 5

XL
Rating: 3.7 / 5

The Music Rag One Sentence Review: These New York college kids make some highly overhyped but ultimately enjoyable African-influenced pop, if you can get past the preppy douchebag image.

Fleet Foxes – Fleet Foxes

June 3, 2008
Bella Union/Sub Pop
Rating: 3 / 5

The Music Rag One Sentence Review: In their debut album, Fleet Foxes succeed at building a rustic aesthetic that evokes cattle drives and rural life and provides some warm and entertaining moments, but is often boring.
